Introduction
Devalipi Imposition Studio is a standalone application to make output ready Impositioned
Adobe InDesign document from a multi page PDF file.
Imposition Studio can make print layouts from 4 ups & more. It also supports both Imagesetters and
CTP machines.

How it works
Open Imposition Studio application you downloaded. It will ask for activation code. Enter
your activation code if you already purchased. Or you click the demo to to get a free demo for 30 days.
During the evaluation period you can make documents up to 4ups. Other layouts are available
only for registered users.

On the main screen there are three tabs, Source, Imposition, Preferences.

Source Panel
The source tab handles the PDF file which you are going to place in the layout.

Select PDF File:
Select the source PDF file for Imposition.

Use Dummy PDF:
Use a built-in dummy PDF file with page numbers as source PDF file for Imposition.

Place from:
Enter the starting page number of the PDF file you want to place.
To:
Enter the ending page number of the PDF file you want to place.

Placing Style:
Select the InDesign PDF Placing style for the PDF page.
(If the selected parameter not available in the PDF file, Imposition Studio will give error.
ex: If you select 'bleed" and the PDF file not included the bleed information then Imposition Studio
will give error.)

Fitting Style:
Select the InDesign PDF picture box fitting style.

Transparent:
Makes the InDesign placing picture box transparent.

Arabic Layout
:Do the reverse page layout for Arabic book/job.

Don't Show Errors:
Suppress InDesign importing errors (font missing dialog box etc..)

 

Imposition Panel
The Imposition tab handles the Imposition parameters and the Imposition Styles.

Imposition Style:
Select a layout style you want to use.
(All styles may not available in the trial version.)

Page Width:
Enter the final width of the book /job.

Page Height:
Enter the final height of the book /job.

Page Bleed:
Enter the bleed value required.

Remove Overlap:
Removes the bleed overlap between two pages in a printer's spread, when you
select inter page gap less than the total bleed value.

Creep:
Enter the creep value if required.
(Per spread creep value calculation.)

Printing Style:
Select the method you want to print.
Front & Back: Print both sides by turning it over from left using TWO set of plates.
Work & Turn: Print both sides by turning it over from left using ONE set of plates.
Work & Tumble: Print both sides by turning it over from the gripper using ONE set of plates.
Perfecting: Print both sides in one pass using TWO sets of plates.

Binding Style:
Select the method of binding.
Perfect Binding: Standard folding layout for books with portrait orientation.
Saddle Stitching: Standard folding layout for books with portrait orientation.
Perfect Binding-Landscape: Landscape folding layout for books with landscape orientation.
Saddle Stitching-Landscape: Landscape folding layout for books with landscape orientation.

Rotate Document:
Rotate document by 90°.

Binding Edge Gap:
Total inter page gap on binding edge including bleed.

Page Head to Head Gap:
Total gap on two spread on a top to top folding line including bleed.

Spread Gap Vertical:
Total gap between two horizontally placed printer's spread including bleed.

Spread Gap Horizontal:
Total gap between second and third or similarly placed vertically placed printer's spread
including bleed. (Required only if the layout contain more than two vertical ups.)

Multi Page Repeat
:Select if you want more ups in folding.
(Required only for small books print in ups for easy folding and binding.)

Page Repeats:
Number of books/job prints together.
(ex: Enter 2 for below example)

Page Repeat Gap:
The gap between repeats including bleed.

Normal Document:
Select if you want to make the InDesign document based on the layout size + margin
best suitable for imagesetters.

Plate Size based Document:
Select if you want to make the InDesign document based on plate size best suitable for CTP.
Some CTP RIP required the layout placement should be exactly the same as it appears on the plate.

Plate Width:
Enter the plate width.

Plate Height:
Enter the plate height.

Plate Gripper Margin:
The space between the gripper side plate edge to image area.

Paper Perfecting Center on Plate:
Center mark of the Image area from the gripper side edge.
This calculation based on the printing sheet height. - consult with your printer for accurate values.
Only required if you use perfecting and do not want to trim the paper as per the job/plate before printing.
(Ex: approx. 38.2 cm when print on 70x100 cm paper and 35.2 cm for 64x90 cm paper
for Heidelberg 8 color Speedmaster machine.)

Presets:
Save the settings you made for later use.

Create Document:
Create a new Adobe InDesign document as per the settings and selected layout.
please note, Do not interfere with inDesign while making auto imposition.

 

Preferences Panel
The preference panel handles some basic preferences.

Register Marks:
Creates four bull's eye center register marks and four corner register marks.

Crop Marks:
Creates crop marks on all sides.

Color Bar:
Creates color swatches of 100%, 80%, 40% tints of process and spot colors.

Color Bar Type:
Creates selective color swatches.
Process: Creates process color swatches only.
Spot: Creates spot swatches only.
Process & Spot: Creates process & spot color swatches.

Show Guides & Frame Edges:
Enable Show Frame Edges & Guides in InDesign

Disable Tool Tips:
Enable / Disable this Tool Tips.

Measurement Unit:
Select the measurement unit of your choice.
