Make Your First Layout
Create a new layout using a built-in template in Imposition Studio..
Imposition Studio offers over 200 predefined templates for standard impositions, accessible from the Templates Window—this is the default window upon opening Imposition Studio.
Select and open a template that closely aligns with your requirements. Adjust the page and paper sizes to suit your needs. Open the PDF Link Settings window and remove any previous PDF links. Import your PDF file into the Links window.
You are Done.
Now, you can output the layout by clicking the " Create PDF Output " button to generate a PDF. Use the resulting PDF output file to print using a PDF viewer such as Acrobat Reader or Preview (Mac), either to a digital printer or by directly placing it into the hot folders of your image setter or CTP workflow. The resulting file is fully compatible with digital printers, image setters, and CTP machines.
Create a new layout using the 'QuickLayout' method..
Select "New" > "QuickLayout" from the File Menu or Templates Window.
A list of available QuickLayout templates will pop up; select the layout you want to use. Then, choose the PDF source file for output. Additional PDF files may be imported later using the ' PDF Link Settings ' window. A window will open with some basic settings, including page sizes, marks, color bars, etc., which are also available in the Layout Settings window.
You are Done.
Now, you can output the layout by clicking the " Create PDF Output " button to generate a PDF. Use the resulting PDF output file to print using a PDF viewer such as Acrobat Reader or Preview (Mac), either to a digital printer or by directly placing it into the hot folders of your image setter or CTP workflow. Create a new layout using the 'New Layout Assistant’..
Select "New" > "Auto Layout" from the File Menu or Templates Window.
Choose the Job Type you want to create and select the number of ups you wish to print in a full form. In the option info fields, view the possible layouts that match the job type and total pages combinations. Select the layout if it meets your basic requirements; note that options like page-turning method can be changed later.
After clicking the OK button, you will be presented with the Signature Settings window. Adjust the page size, output settings, and other preferences here. Some options may not be available at this moment but can be accessed later when you open the ' Signature Settings ' or ' Layout Settings .’
Next, open the PDF Link Settings window to import your PDF file into the Links window. Use the dropdown menu on the 'Import PDF...' button to import included sample PDF files. You may import single or multiple PDF files or insert empty pages and rearrange them as per your requirements.

Select "New" > "Manual Layout" from the File Menu or Templates Window.
The Manual Layout Assistant will then open. Adjust the page size, output settings, and other preferences here. Note that some options may not be available at this moment but can be accessed later when you open the ' Signature Settings ' or ' Layout Settings. ’
Next, open the PDF Link Settings window to import your PDF file into the Links window. Use the dropdown menu on the 'Import PDF...' button to import included sample PDF files. You may import a single or multiple PDF files or insert empty pages and rearrange them as per your requirements.

Create a gang run layout with two different page sizes..
In this example, we are designing a layout with two A4 and one A3 sizes for a gang run.
Select "New" > "Auto Layout" from the File Menu or Templates Window. Choose 4up (2x2), single-sided, A4 size, in horizontal orientation on plain cut sheet mode. Then, click the "Create" button to automatically generate the layout.
You will obtain a layout similar to image 1. In the Layout Editor , double-click on the top right page to edit its properties. In the Master Page Settings window, check the " Hide Master Page " button to conceal the page from the layout. Change the symbolic page number to '1' and click OK to close. Subsequently, double-click on the right bottom page to edit its properties. In the Master Page Settings window, change the PDF Page Rotation to 0 degrees. Then, check the transformations checkbox and click the 'Gang Run Transformations...' button to open the Gang Run Transformations window. In this window, modify the Box Size Horizontal field to 297mm and the Box Size Vertical field to 420mm (the size of A3). Click OK to close, and the layout will now resemble image 2.
Next, open the PDF Link Settings window to import your PDF file into the Links window. Use the dropdown menu on the 'Import PDF...' button to import included sample PDF files. Position your links according to the symbolic page numbers or adjust the symbolic page numbers to match the imported links in the PDF Link Settings window. In this example, use link numbers 1 and 3 for A4 size and link number 2 for A3 size. The layout will now resemble image 3.
You can use the ' Hide Master Page On ..’ menu and the ' Unhide Master Page On ..’ menu to conceal or reveal master pages.
